I enrolled for my PhD in 2015. Soon after I used to feel sickly and could not travel. Soon after I was expectant. By then my supervisor insisted that I develop the entire proposal on my own so she could read and direct me. This was a toll order because basically you can make an error which will not be detected eg on your research instruments or objectives. Also I took breaks for maternity twice. Am still correcting some corrections but alone in readiness for second defense. The issue of presenting a physical document also delayed my progress since the supervisor had insisted on hard copies and physical meetings from Eldoret to Maseno was tough coz I had small children and sometimes no house help. At work I also was kept busy with teaching load and the exam office. Supervisors should know content in the areas they are supervising. Also they need to research to be updated on the research areas. And to supervise the work not act as editors correcting English since AI can help with that.
