Okumu Boscow is a Principal Economist working with the National Treasury and Planning with Over ten years
experience in Monitoring and Evaluation of Government Policies, programmes and projects,
development of Indicators, M&E frameworks and preparation of progress reports at National and
devolved levels of government.
He is a holder of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Economics from University of Cape Town majoring on
Environmental and Natural resource Economics. Major research areas include forestry, biodiversity
conservation, climate change, climate smart agriculture, energy economics, wildlife economics and
community based natural resource management focusing on interaction between protected areas
and adjacent communities.
Research Fellow of the Environment for Development Initiative a global network of environmental of
environmental economics research centres contributing to the effective management of the
environment in the global south through capacity development, applied research and policy
interaction in 15 countries.
Skilled in Applied Statistics, Time series analysis, Micro-econometrics, Micro and Macroeconomics,
Growth and Development economics, Environment and Natural Resource Economics. Experience in
developing databases and handling large datasets. Strong analytical skills and data analysis skills
using SPSS, Stata and LIMDEP/NLOGIT, Ngene for choice designs and E-views. Little experience
in use of R and Matlab.
