Dr. Charles Omwanza is a Research and Program Management Expert and scholar with progressive experience spanning over 12 years in educational management, business development, training, strategic data analysis, and use, youth empowerment, and consultancy. He has experience in senior-level management, improving institutional and operational efficiency, team building and corporate training.
He holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Business administration (Finance), a Master of Business Administration (Finance), and a Bachelor of Education (Mathematics and Business Studies). He is also a Certified Public Accountant and holds a professional certification in monitoring and evaluation. He has served as a TVET program expert for both national and international non-governmental organizations. He has also experience in University lecturing, having taught at Tom Mboya University, Kenyatta University, Jomo Kenyatta University of Science and Technology, and Zetech Universities. He is a managing consultant at Development Mondial Solutions Limited (DMS).
He has seven publications in peer-reviewed journals. With over 6 years’ of experience executing and managing consultancies in a range of areas including education and research, Charles has successfully carried out several assignments including being an associate Consultant with Transparency International, undertaking in action-research on improving complaints referral mechanisms for greater accountability and transparency in Kenya covering Wajir, Turkana, and Pokot counties (2016); a baseline survey for implementing the TUSOME Early Grade Reading Activity project in Wajir, West Pokot, Turkana, Kilifi and Bungoma Counties (1st July, 2015- August 2015); A rapid assessment of the Community Empowerment for Deaf Children inclusion in Kwale, Bungoma, Nyandarua, and Nandi Counties (May 2015 – July 2015).
Consultant with UNESCO Somalia in the development of curriculum framework, adult literacy, and numeracy syllabus, teaching guides and learning materials for the Federal Ministries of Education for Somaliland, Puntland and the South Central Region (2015); among others. Working closely with the consulting team at DMS, he has overseen the execution of several assessments and midterm and end-term evaluation consultancies whose recommendations have been implemented and resulted in turnaround for projects that were operating at sub-optimal levels to highly performing systems support.
